5 | § ¶I am getting old...
--
This week I slightly upgraded my Linux box at home. And boy... I really felt old.
I got this new motherboard and CPU. The silicon waffer was almost exposed to the air! That scared me! The heatsink going right on top of the CPU core? How could that be? To a modern geek that should be normal. To me -- old school geek -- thats a no-no! Just like shaking the computer while the 10Meg hard drive heads where spinning -- no-no of my times.
Updating a Bios? In my days it just required you to transfer the system and BIOS image to a floppy and boot from it. Try that in Windoze 2000. No way of doing it. Had to get an old image of DOS on http://www.bootdisk.com/ . Those guys saved my day, I must say. Who said we are advancing?
Just then, I was able to recover my hopes in technology: I got one of those cheapy motherboards that have the integrated sound, video, and ethernet. Booted linux, and it just recognized everything... no driver installs, no disks to put in the drive, no downloads to make. In less than 2 minutes I was back and running, playing mp3s, and watching videos. Boy... that made my day! Try that with your windoze box!
Just another thing to remember me that I am getting old.

5 | § ¶Weblogs
--
A quick, free, easy, way of expression.
Our society is accustomed to short bursts of unrelated information being shoved at their senses. 30 seconds TV commercials. Road billboards that pass through our eyes at 80mph. Flash web popups that invade our desktops, causing its effect whenether we inmediately close them or not.
Lets start my own weblog. For once and for all I may be heard (read) by the thousands of people out there... if only a paragraph.
Enjoy,
